LOCAL RESTAURANTS
From farm to table fine dining at Dovetail to The Rookery's famous burgers and milkshakes, with 53 restaurants in the downtown Macon historic district, there is sure to be something for everyone. Just in the alley, there are four dining options: Downtown Grill, Ninja, Tokyo Alley, and Fatty's Pizza. There are also two cocktail bars hidden in the alley: Ours (Quill) and The Monkey's Paw (a tiki speakeasy). Our favorite breakfast spot is legendary H&H Soul Food Restaurant just a few blocks away. Need caffeine? Try out Z Beans or Taste and See. If you're open to driving across town, try handmade pasta while you sip Barolo on Natalia's exquisite patio, or grab a slice at quirky, historic Ingleside Village Pizza. Don't forget the perfect macarons at Oh Honey Bakery.
LIVE MUSIC
Macon's impact on music history cannot be overstated. The home of Otis Redding, Little Richard, and The Allman Brothers (to name just a few), music is Macon's beating heart. If you're here to see music, there's no more convenient base camp than The Woodward. We are located just a few doors down from the Capitol Theater, one street over from historic Grant's Lounge, and an quick walk to the Macon City Auditorium, The Grand Opera House, Fresh Produce Records, and bars and restaurants that host live music. Don't forget about music festivals like Bragg Jam and GABBA.
LIVE THEATER
See a live production just a few blocks away at Macon City Auditorium, The Grand Opera House, or The Douglass Theatre. A vital part of our community, Theatre Macon does eleven productions per year in addition to classes and workshops. Nationally acclaimed Macon Little Theatre is a quick drive away and is the largest and oldest community theatre in Georgia. We also have a Storytellers series at Grant's Lounge, and local colleges like Mercer, Middle Georgia State, and Wesleyan also host performances.
